Japanese snack-inspired side-scroller
I Want To Eat Umaibo! is a paid action game from indie developer yokeijyo. It’s a 2D side-scrolling game partly inspired by the renowned Super Mario Bros and Pac-Man series. The game follows Umaemon as he tries to save her sister, Umami-chan, by eating umaibō, a popular Japanese snack.
Saved by umaibō
The characters of I Want To Eat Umaibo! are the mascots of umaibō from Yaokin and Riska. They are the siblings Umaemon and Umami-chan, who love eating the corn snack. In this side-scroller, you take control of Umaemon, who must rescue his abducted sister, Umami-chan, despite being under a spell.
Umaemon must keep eating umaibō to stay alive and find his sister. Ask random people on the way to supply him with the snack. The game boasts simple controls and customization options with special effects. It also includes an Umami-chan gallery and an umaibō encyclopedia. The text, however, is strictly displayed Japanese.
A must-try
For fans of side-scrolling games and all things Japanese, I Want To Eat Umaibo! is a fun casual game worth checking out. Adhering to the time-tested formula that made Super Mario Bros and Pac-Man a success, this game offers a familiar experience but with Japan's beloved corn snack.
